One way I like to recharge myself is with weekend trips. Nothing glamorous. I love exploring the areas around us. I think this is vitally important to our sense of well-being. With all the social media and imagery around us, its easy to think that you should be taking exotic trips to Fiji or weekend getaways in Paris. However, there is just as much peace and joy that can be found closer to home. You just have to be willing shift your mind to see it.
People think the only worthy vacations or trip are those to far flung locales. While that is also important and good on you if you can afford to make that happen frequently. I hear a lot of people say “I don’t have any money to travel” or “I don’t have time” or thinking their town is boring, with “nothing to do.” I think its all about a perspective shift. You can see new places, new beauty, have fun, relax all while keeping costs low and without going away for too long a time. Explore!
My husband and I have a similar travel style in that we both think its more important to have the experience of visiting and seeing new places, more than the creature comforts. Of course if we have the opportunity to stay at a fancy place, we do it but its not necessary.
There is no shame is traveling on a budget. Think of all the things you are missing out on because you think you need to take a whole week or two and you need to fly somewhere. There is just as much splendor to be found in closer reach.
Just Do It – Go to NYC. Go to Hawaii.
