Trader Joe’s Haul – 7.12.17

Just when I think I don’t really need Trader Joe’s (”It’s not that special,” I tell myself), I go to Trader Joe’s and find myself thinking “How can I survive without Trader Joe’s?!??!”

As some have put it, the store caters to the “overeducated & underpaid.” The stores are a great blend of quality, organic/natural, gourmet and affordable items. The frozen section is legendary for its variety of unique snacks, convenience foods and staples. It drives some people crazy but I love the small selection of items (unlike the 10’s of thousands of items in a supermarket). I think it makes shopping much easier since there are usually only 1-2 options per item (i.e. 2 kinds of peanut butter, not 25). I can go on & on about the merits of Trader Joe’s but I won’t as this is not the right venue.

The closest Trader Joe’s to us is in Winston-Salem, about 45 minutes away. I totally love Trader Joe’s. I’ve been a loyal customer since my days at UCLA many, many years ago. In Los Angeles, there are Trader Joe’s located within a couple miles of each. At one point, I lived within 3 different locations! It was amazing.

Since moving to Greensboro, I’ve had to limit my TJ’s runs. So today I went a little crazy buying up goods. I told myself going in that I would only buy things that you can’t find at other stores or staples that are significantly cheaper than the competition. Well, there was a lot to choose from! Trader Joe’s also stays up on the food and diet trends. My husband will be starting a ketogenic diet very soon and TJ’s is a great place to stock up on keto-friendly items.
